JAVAN SANTANA
There’s something inevitable about Javan Santana’s return to music. He tried to step away—redirecting his energy into photography, filmmaking, and creative direction—but music never truly let go. “It’s spiritual,” he says. “It chooses its people personally.” And in 2024, after years of building a name behind the camera, Javan answered the call once again. Before Javan Santana, there was Boomvybe—the name under which he first emerged as a 16-year-old artist in 2019, releasing “Pinkish,” followed by “Stay” and “Close to Me” in 2020. But life had its own plans. Caught in emotional turmoil, he took a step back, finding solace behind the lens. In 2021, he launched Cupid Universe, a production company and creative studio that quickly became a force in the scene. What started as “just a kid with a camera” turned into a powerhouse, with Javan working with some of the most influential voices from Abuja and beyond—Asap Timo, PsychoYP, Odumodublvck, Eeskay, and more. By 2022, his lens had already captured stars like Rema, Ajebo Hustlers, and Ruger in their breakout years, cementing his reputation as a creative director. But the music was always waiting. In 2024, under the SoundsbySDL imprint, Javan Santana was born. His reintroduction came with Beverly and Bad Decisions— a two-pack release featuring Danny Montanna—marking a new chapter, not just in sound, but in purpose. Javan doesn’t just make music; he moves through it, allowing it to guide him as much as he directs it. After all, some things aren’t just passions—they’re callings.
